Zeno is committed to protecting adults at risk of abuse. We acknowledge that we have a duty of care to adult service users, which extends to both individuals living in a residential setting managed by Zeno, and also to individuals living in their own homes who receive support.
The broad definition of an ‘adult at risk’, suggested by the Law Commission and referred to in the Lord Chancellor’s Department’s consultation paper, ‘Who Decides’, and the Department of Health’s, ‘No Secrets’ is used: “A person aged 18 years or over who is or may be in need of community care services by reason of mental or other disability, age or illness and who is or may be unable to take care of him or herself, or unable to protect him or herself against significant harm or exploitation”. Law Commission Report 231, 1997 & ‘No Secrets’, Department of Health, 2000.
